Comment:
Kurset er et 6-dages internatkursus, der afholdes i juli eller august på SDU’s Biologiske Feltstation ”Sø-gaardlejren” i Sønderjylland.
Prerequisites:
None
Academic preconditions:
The content of BB 08, Biology A and BB 04, Plant Biology must be known.
Course introductionTo provide a theoretical and practical understanding of the influence of biotic and abiotic faktors on terrestrial plant communities. In addition, the aim is to provide knowledge on the means by which legislation allows management including restoration of natural vegetations.
Expected learning outcomeSubject overviewThe flora is monitored by use of simple floristic methods in selected biotopes, e.g. a forest or a meadow. Abiotic parameters are measured by conventional means: insolation, temperature and edaphic factors such as acidity, water balance, soil profile, nutrients, minerals and organic matter. Each plant community is characterized and the specific ecology identified. Vegetations are compared and similarities and differences evaluated including the possibility of improving plant diversity, e.g. by introducing grazing animals.
