Timetable
There is no timetable available for the chosen semester.

Prerequisites:
None

Academic preconditions:
Chemistry A (KE04), Analytical Spectroscopy (KM01). Organic chemistry A (KO 02) must be attended simultaneously at the latest. It is recommended to take the course before Molecular Synthesis (KO 03).

Course introduction
The students should obtain practical skills in separating substance mixtures by using modern separation and purification techniques and obtain practical skills in identifying and determining the functional groups of organic substances. Through identification of IR, MS og 1H and 13C NMR spectra the students should be trained in practical analytical molecular spectroscopy including the interpretation problems implied in the fact that substances could be impure or poorly separated.

Expected learning outcome

Subject overview
Separation of substance mixtures by extraction and preparative thin layer chromatography. Determination of functional groups and equivalent weight. HPLC og GLC analysis. Identification by MS, 1H and 13C NMR og IR spectra.
