Academic preconditions:
The material from MM509 Topology II and MM804 Riemannian geometry and Einstein metrics is assumed known.

Course introduction
To aquaint the student with selected current topics in geometry, and to read and give seminars on texts describing research results within geometry.

Expected learning outcome
After completing the course, a student will expectedly be able to

- independently read and present selected research articles within the course syllabus
- reproduce definitions and results, together with their proofs, in differential geometry within the course syllabus
- apply these results to problems in differential geometry based on the course syllabus
- compare and relate central results

Subject overview
The subjects covered in the course dependes on the interests of the student and of the supervisor chosen. Possible subjects include holonomy, geometry with torsion, geometry and high energy physics, harmonic maps, twistor theory.

None

Assessment and marking:
The students will be evaluated by asking them to give one or more talks on the course material. Pass/fail, internal evaluation by teacher.

Expected working hours
The teaching method is based on three phase model.

Selvstændigt arbejde med ugentlige vejledningsmøder. / The students are expected to work independently, with weekly supervision meetings.
