Academic preconditions:
Introduction to information technology 1 or a similar course.

Course introduction
To give participants a basic theoretical understanding of the modern information technological tools that are applied within science and engineering.

After the course the students will:

  1. be able to use the computer as a productive and useful tool in their study
  2. be able to recognize typical problems that occur when working with computers, and formulate strategies for solving these.


Expected learning outcome


Subject overview
Internet:
The construction and use of the internet. Search for information. News services. E-mail. Electronic libraries. Design and construction of homepages.
Databases:
Construction and usage. Search in technical relevant databases (articles, patents). Design and construction of simple database (Access).
Presentation tools:
Introduction to different types. Layout of presentations.

This course uses e-learn (blackboard).

Prerequisites for participating in the exam
None

Assessment and marking:
Project exercise with intern evaluation. Pass/Failed.

Expected working hours
The teaching method is based on three phase model.

Forelæsninger (6 timer), laboratorieøvelser (16 timer) og projekt (8 timer).

This course is taught in English, if international students participate. Otherwise the course is taught in Danish.
