Comment:
8-dages feltkursus, som afholdes på Marinbiologisk Forskningscenter i Kerteminde i sommerferien (overnatning er obligatorisk) med efterfølgende 3 dages rapportskrivning på Campus. Der startes dog med 5x2 obligatoriske forelæsninger/forberedelsestimer i løbet af forårssemesteret.
Der forventes afholdt 2 hold, som afvikles i løbet af juni/juli/august.

Academic preconditions:
The content of Ecology A (BB 14) and General Physiology A (BB 16) must be known.

Course introduction
To deepen the students knowledge on ecological theories and to provide training in experimental marine ecology.

Expected learning outcome


Subject overview
The course consists of two parts:

1) Theory and planning (about 10 hours).
2) Summer course (about 50 hours).

The summer course consists of project work, where students learn to plan, execute and handle data from ecological experiments in marine environments, as well as searching for and evaluating the necessary and relevant literature.
Topics:
1) Theory and planning.
Projects for the summer course are planned. Relevant literature is obtained and theories of the chosen topics are discussed.
2) Summer course.
A field course based on field samplings and experimental ecology. The field work has a duration of 8 days and will be held at the Marine Biological Research Center, Kerteminde. Subsequently, 3 days of report-writing will be held on Campus.

Prerequisites for participating in the exam
None

Assessment and marking:
Compulsory participation (min. 80%) in both the theoretical part and the summer course, and approval of written reports. Groups of 3-5 students. Internal evaluation by the teacher on pass/fail basis.

Expected working hours
The teaching method is based on three phase model.

2 forelæsninger, 8 seminarer og 50 felt- og laboratoriearbejder.

This course is taught in Danish.

Remarks
The theoretical part in spring semester. The summer course during the following summer.
Compulsory stay overnight in Kerteminde during the 8 days of field work.
