Course introduction
The purpose of the course is to enable the student to perform laboratory work, including sterile-lab work with cell- and bacterial cultures, in a safe and independent way.

Qualifications
The student will be able to
• Perform quality control on basic lab equipment and calibrate electrodes and microscopes
• Plan and perform quantitative measurements using standard curves and standard additions and report results after application of basic statistical methods.
• Work in a sterile laboratory
The student will become familiar with
• Basic principles of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
• Laboratory safety, including labelling and disposal of chemical waste
• Safe handling of liquid nitrogen and pressurised gasses
