Course introduction
The aim of the course is to study a biological subject of choice and present the results in oral and written form

Qualifications


Expected learning outcome
After completing the course the student is expected to be able to

• find and assemble fact and data and obtain detailed insight in a biological subject of choice
• independently interpret and evaluate the obtained information
• present a synthesis of the obtained information in writing as a review
• present the obtained information orally as a seminar for researchers and fellow students
• discuss the results in a forum

Subject overview
The course covers all biological subjects chosen by the participants. Most subjects will be within the focal research areas of the institute of Biology, enabling supervision by one of the researchers at the institute

1) Ecology
2) Bio- geochemistry
3) Physiology
4) Neuro- and sensory biology

Subject outside the research profile of the Institute of Biology may also be chosen, if the student is prepared to seek supervision for outside the institute, or mainly work independently

Prerequisites for participating in the exam
None

Assessment and marking:
Oral presentation and own seminar, based on projectassignment, graded pass/fail. Internal censorship by the teacher. Satisfactory participation in seminars by other course takers is required.

Re-examination after 4th quarter.

The teaching method is based on three phase model.
