BB813 Applied Electronics and Microcomputer Technology is recommended.

Course introduction
To coach the student to work independent and soak oneself in a self-elected construction and testing an IT-related interface circuit used in modern field and laboratory studies.

Expected learning outcome
At the end of the course it is expected that the student can:

• Independent construct and understand IT – related measure set ups.
• Put into perspective problems inside a subject by using IT technology on technical/scientific way of thinking.
• Report results by using IT-related methods.
• Make plans for and carry out quantitative measurements by help of self made programs
• Analyze results and carry out quality control on IT basis equipment.

Subject overview
1. Regulation of light and temperature etc. (day and night regulation with data acquisition).
2. CO2 measurement (data acquisition - Integration- to Peak – Graphic etc.).
3. Actografic based on microcomputer (optically).
4. Data acquisition and processing of ultrasonic sound (20Hz – 200KHz).
5. Data acquisition and processing of sound (20 Hz – 20 KHz).
6. Data acquisition and processing of infrasonic sound (1 Hz – 20 Hz).
7. Construction of microcomputer controlled flume system (evt. Tidel water ).
8. Simple robot control.
9. Heart activity measurement on crabs (opto).
10. Talking instruments.
11. Remote reading of measument data (net, GSM, Dallas two wire..)
12. Eventually self-elected Project .

Prerequisites for participating in the exam
None

Assessment and marking:
Project assignment which is graded passed/failed, internal censorchip by lecturer. Lab exercises are included in the evaluation of the project assignment.

Re-examination after 4th quarter.

The teaching method is based on three phase model.
