Course introductionAn introductory course in bioacoustics (animal hearing and sound communication)
Expected learning outcomeAfter the course the student should be able to
• Have a working knowledge of basic acoustics
• Describe the anatomy and physiology of auditory pathways in different animal groups
• Describe sound communication in different animal groups
• Have a working knowledge of physiological and behavioral methods to measure hearing
• Undertake an independent project in bioacoustics
• Make an appropriate scientific description of experiments and results.

Assessment and marking:
a) Project assignment, Pass/fail, internal evaluation by teacher
b) Lab. work, Pass/fail, internal evaluation by teacher
Active participation and an oral presentation at a student seminar is necessary to pass the course
Re exam after 4th. quater.

The teaching method is based on three phase model.
