These are some of the biotechnological challenges that we have taken up at the Risø National Laboratory, and which will be discused in this course. The course will give a theoretical and/or practical introduction to a series of techniques used in plant molecular biology. These include:
• plant tissue culture - isolation of immature embryos and callus culture
• transformation using Agrobacterium and "biolistics"
• mutagenesis as a tool in basic and applied research.
In addition a number of general molecular biological techniqes will be used.
