Academic preconditions:
Bachelor's degree in Molecular Cellbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology - Chemistry or Chemistry - Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Course introduction
Introduction to current problems in plant biotechnology and plant molecular biology.

Expected learning outcome


Subject overview
The course will give a theoretical and/or practical introduction to a series of techniques used in plant molecular biology. These include:

Plant tissue culture - isolation of immature embryos and callus culture
Transformation using Agrobacterium and "biolistics"
Mutagenesis as a tool in basic and applied research

In addition a number of general molecular biological techniqes will be used.

Prerequisites for participating in the exam
None

Assessment and marking:
Short, written lab report and oral presentation (20 min. including discusion). Internal examiners, pass/fail basis.

Expected working hours
The teaching method is based on three phase model.

This course is taught in English, if international students participate. Otherwise the course is taught in Danish.
