Subject overview
The course consists of a theoretical part where the theory behind the methods used is discussed, and a practical part. In the practical part the students will purify a protein. The methods used include cell organelle separation by centrifugation, salt precipitation, ion exchange chromatography, gel filtration, protein determination and photometric enzyme assay. The participants are expected to document purity and to determine molecular weights using gel electrophoresis.
