Course introductionTo give the student an understanding of the fundamental concepts and principles in analysis and design of electrical circuits – passive as well as active – based on modelling by discrete components.
Expected learning outcomeSubject overviewThe electrical circuit, Kirchhoff’s laws, ideal voltage- and current sources, resistance, node analysis, loop analysis, Thevenin- and Norton equivalents, power calculations, capacitors, inductors (ideal and practical).
AC-analysis, sinusoidal signals, phasoranalysis (complex repr.), complex impedance, transient response of first-order C-/L-circuits.
Semiconductor (explained phenomenally), diodes, rectifier circuits, zenerdiodes, bipolar junction transistors, field effect transistors - modes of operation for both types, graphical characteristics, biasing circuits, small signal transistor model.
