Prerequisites:
None

Academic preconditions:
FY512 must be attended.

Course introduction
Giving the participant hands on experience with building, solving and interpreting physical and biophysical models. This activity builds on the course FY512.

Expected learning outcome
After completing the course, the student will be able to

1. Put the chosen model in its right scientific and historical context
2. Utilize suitable mathematical and simulational tools in order to solve the problem for relevant values of the model parameters.
3. Assess the validity of the results in relation to the phenomena the model purports to describe.

Subject overview
Modelling of physical and biophysical systems. Numerical and simulational methods e.g. Monte Carlo methods and advanced software e.g Matlab and Maple will be utilized. Groups of two to three students will work with a specific model, chosen from a range of possibilities offered by the teachers involved. Central elements are computational methods for solving relevant model equations.

Literature
There isn't any litterature for the course at the moment.

Website
This course uses e-learn (blackboard).

Prerequisites for participating in the exam
None

Assessment and marking:
Project report, followed by a short individual oral examination. Marks according to the Danish 7-point scale and internal censorship.

Expected working hours
The teaching method is based on three phase model.
