Course introduction
The aim is to give the participants an experimental and pedagogical foundation for the teaching of physics to the age group 16+.

Expected learning outcome
During this activity students will acquire skills in assembling and demonstrating experimental setups for laboratory exercises at the 16+ age level.

Upon completion of this course students will be able to

  • Establish setups for physics experiments, demonstrate how they work, and outline their possibilities related to different subjects covered by the curriculum of the Danish secondary education system, and propose several activities which are possible using these particular setups
  • Write manuals which help and direct the students to work through different exercises with the equipment
  • Supervise students with their studies of the theoretical background for the exercise
  • Supervise students in assessing and making numerical estimates of the uncertainties involved in the exercises
  • Supervise collaborative behavior in group activities

Prerequisites for participating in the exam
None

Assessment and marking:
The course finishes with an individual oral exam on an experimental subject of own choice, described in a written report forming the basis of the exam. External censorship. Grade according to the Danish 7-mark scale.

Reexamination in the same exam period or immediately thereafter. The mode of exam at the reexamination may differ from the mode of exam at the ordinary exam.

The teaching method is based on three phase model.

This course is taught in English, if international students participate. Otherwise the course is taught in Danish.
