Course introduction
The aim of the course is to provide the students with knowledge of practical analytical chemistry at such a level that the acquired knowledge can contribute to the theoretical understanding of fundamental chemistry and to a general understanding of experimental science.

Expected learning outcome
After the course, the students are expected to be able to:

  • work independently and safely in an experimental chemical laboratoriun
  • relate simple experiments to theoretical knowledge within basic chemistry
  • carry out chemical titrations with reasonable accuracy
  • determine concentrations from titrations and eqilibrium constants and relate pH-calculations to the titration curves for acid/base titrations

Prerequisites for participating in the exam
None

Assessment and marking:
  1. Continuous evaluation (including both report and participation). Participation in 12 hours of laboratory exercises and approval of three written reports. Evaluated jointly. Internal evaluation by the teacher, pass/fail. (1 ECTS). (10005922).

The teaching method is based on three phase model.

Laboratory exercises in groups of each two persons (12h).
