Expected learning outcome


Subject overview
Finite-dimensional affine spaces, hyper planes, convex manifolds and their topology; convex functions, conjugation, subdifferentiability, minimizing and Kuhn-Tucker’s theorem.

Prerequisites for participating in the exam
None

Assessment and marking:
A 4 hour written examination with textbook, notes, etc. External examiner. Marks according to the 7-point marking scale.

Reexamination after 4th quarter.

Date of exam
The ordinary exam takes place on January 6, 2009
The re-examination takes place on June 30, 2009

Expected working hours
The teaching method is based on three phase model.

2 hours of lectures per week and 2 hours of discussion sessions.
