Bachelordegree in biomedicine, medicamental science, pharmaci or molecular-/ and cellbiology supplemented with courses in anatomy (SU501) and physiology (SU502)

Course introduction
To give the students sufficient knowledge about the most important disease mechanisms at the cellular, subcellular and molecular level to be able to understand and explain how diseases and complexes of diseases present themselves at the macroscopic pathologic and clinical level. To present current knowledge about the pathophysiology of most of the more important diseases and to discuss the limits of this understanding. To present examples of diseases where a thourough understanding of the pathophysiologi is available at the cellular and molecular level, and to discuss how this knowledge has been obtained.

Expected learning outcome
At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to account for the most important disease mechanisms at the cellular, subcellular and molecular level and to be able to explain how diseases and complexes of diseases present themselves at the macroscopic pathologic and clinical level. Subject overview
Subjects are selected from 3 interdisciplinary and 6 organ-related groups of subjects. The course will cover the major disease mechanisms at various levels. Three subject groups will be taught every quarter. Interdisciplinary subject groups: Molecular pathophysiology, oncology and inflammation. Organ-related subjects: neurobiology, cardiology/respiratory system, stomach/intestines/pancreas, endocrinology/metabolism, kidneys and

Written exam, marks according to the danish 7-point scale and external examination.
