Academic preconditions:
The contents of DM505 Database Design and Programming and DM532 Principles of Database Systems must be known.
Course introductionTo give the participants an understanding of the state-of-the-art data management technologies in the selected topics, as well as theoretical and practical skills to develop novel technologies in new data management applications
Expected learning outcomeAt the end of the course the student is expected to be able to:
- present the contents of one or more selected scientific papers in a clear manner
- write brief reviews of selected scientific papers in a clear language
- conduct a theoretical or implementation-based project which should be within the topics covered by the course and contain components of original work
- report work done in the project in clear and precise language, and in a structured fashion
- explain the background knowledge related to the project
- account for the details of the project and the reasoning of the theories, the implementation choices, and/or the experimental results

Prerequisites for participating in the exam
None
Assessment and marking:
aa) Presentation of one or more scientific articles as well as short written reviews of presented in class. Internal censorship by lecturer, passed/failed. Passed presentation and reviews of articles are a prerequisite for participating in the project examination.
b) Project assignment. External censorship, graded according to the 7-point grading scale.
The re-exam may differ from the ordinary exam.

This course is taught in Danish or English, depending on the lecturer. However, if international students participate, the teaching language will always be English.
