Academic preconditions:
It is recommended that the students are at the M.Sc. level.

Course introduction
The object of the course is to introduce the students to the news criteria and the working conditions of the media in order that they may be able to co-operate with the press and thus improve their chances to pass on their messages to the public.

Expected learning outcome
At the termination of the classes the student is expected to:

• Understand the criteria of the news media of selecting news
• Know the working conditions of the news media
• Make a strategy for communication of a piece of news
• Write a press release
• Act as an expert in a tv-interview

• Models of communication
• Target groups
• Press releases
• Press conferences
• Media interviews

Prerequisites for participating in the exam
None

Assessment and marking:
(a) Mandatory assignments graded pass/fail. Internal censorship by teacher.
(b) Project assignment graded pass/fail, and internal censorship by teacher.

Re-examination after 4th quarter.
